The Series A was preceded by the award of the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator program, a key initiative of the European Commission supporting companies that create and disrupt markets with their transformative technologies.&nbsp;
<h2>World-record-breaking quantum processors</h2>
Since its founding in 2019, QuiX Quantum has delivered world-record-breaking quantum processors, becoming the supplier of choice across Europe.&nbsp;In 2022, it became the first company globally to sell both 8-qubit and 64-qubit photonic quantum computers to the German Aerospace Center (DLR QCI). In 2024, QuiX Quantum began offering cloud access to its quantum systems, creating a platform for hybrid computing and bringing near-term quantum computing to real-world applications in industries such as infrastructure, defencem healthcare and IT.
With this funding, QuiX Quantum will deliver its first-generation universal photonic quantum computer, designed to implement a universal gate set enabling any quantum operation. This milestone introduces universality, accelerating QuiX Quantum&rsquo;s toward delivering large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computers. QuiX Quantum addresses the growing demand from data centers and end-users for greater computational power and access to real quantum hardware for testing algorithms and use cases. All QuiX Quantum components and system designs are optimized from the design stage for high-volume production, scalability and energy efficiency. The financing round also strengthens the European supply chain, reinforcing QuiX Quantum&rsquo;s role as a leader in developing the continent&rsquo;s quantum photonic ecosystem.&nbsp;

<h2>Fault-tolerant universal quantum computer</h2>
&ldquo;Our Series A funding round fuels our mission to further develop the core building blocks required for a fault-tolerant universal quantum computer&rdquo; says Dr. &ndash; Ing. Stefan Hengesbach, CEO of QuiX Quantum. &ldquo;With our first-generation system in 2026, we will demonstrate universality by overcoming long-standing challenges in fast feed-forward electronics and single-photon sources. The next-generation system, planned for 2027, will focus on implementing error correction, a crucial step towards fault-tolerant systems capable of transforming industries such as chemical engineering, drug development, fraud detection, and advanced manufacturing.&rdquo;
QuiX Quantum&rsquo;s&nbsp;universal photonic quantum computer leverages the principles of superposition, entanglement, and interference to process information in fundamentally different ways from classical computers. Built on silicon-nitride chips designed for high-volume manufacturing, its systems are highly scalable, operate primarily at room temperature, and are fully compatible with data-center environments. These advancements promise to unlock unprecedented computational capabilities in areas such as catalyst simulations, molecular dynamics, machine learning, and data analysis.

QuiX Quantum secures €15 million

Milence officially began operations at the office on July 5. Oost NL supported Milence in the site selection process in close collaboration with IPKW, Connectr, the municipality of Arnhem, the province of Gelderland, and the NFIA.
Heavy commercial vehicles account for about a quarter of road transport emissions in the EU. Milence&nbsp;-&nbsp;a joint venture of Daimler Truck, the TRATON GROUP, and the Volvo Group&nbsp;-&nbsp;plans to build and operate 1,700 public charging points across Europe by 2027. The company aims to speed up the transition to emission-free heavy-duty trucks. To achieve this, Milence is opening several charging&nbsp;points&nbsp;throughout Europe and is currently building charging&nbsp;points&nbsp;in Sweden, France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands.
<h2>Reducing emissions through freight transport electrification</h2>
Milence&rsquo;s facility at IPKW will house an office for approximately 65 employees&nbsp;who will be&nbsp;handling operations. The company is also developing a large test lab for R&amp;D on smart and&nbsp;fast-charging&nbsp;equipment for trucks. &ldquo;Battery-powered freight transport is currently the most efficient and sustainable road transport option. A robust charging infrastructure is essential to unlocking&nbsp;this potential,&rdquo; says Anja van Niersen, CEO of Milence.
<h2>Connecting to the Energy cluster in Gelderland</h2>
Oost NL supported Milence with the establishment&nbsp;and worked&nbsp;with regional partners. This included advising on permits and linking Milence with the Gelderland energy cluster. Peter van Houten, Project Manager EV Logistics &amp; Tech at Oost NL, says: &ldquo;Milence&rsquo;s arrival in Arnhem is excellent news for the region. Their activities align well with Arnhem&rsquo;s focus and&nbsp;IPKW&rsquo;s&nbsp;emphasis on innovative energy, charging infrastructure, and environmental technology. Additionally, they contribute to sustainable transportation with reduced CO2 emissions.&rdquo;
Van Niersen is pleased with the expansion to Arnhem: &ldquo;IPKW was a logical choice for us. Arnhem offers extensive expertise in electrification and charging infrastructure. We want to actively collaborate with established companies and startups in the region to learn from each other and contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable world.&rdquo;
<h2>First charging points&nbsp;in East Netherlands in Zwolle</h2>
Oost NL also assisted Milence in identifying potential locations for physical charging points in East Netherlands. A Milence Charging Hub will be&nbsp;established&nbsp;in Zwolle at the Hessenpoort business park.

Milence has opened an office at Industrial Park Kleefse Waard (IPKW) in Arnhem and is developing a large testing center for heavy-duty charging equipment. From this site, the company will significantly advance the electrification of international freight transport, aiming to achieve fossil-free road transport.

Milence builds European charging infrastructure for freight transport from Arnhem

Thai Union is one of the largest producers of shelf-stable tuna and fish products worldwide with annual sales exceeding USD 3.9 billion. At the prospect of being able to collaborate with Wageningen University &amp; Research, Europe&rsquo;s no. 1 university in nutrition and food science, the company chose Wageningen to benefit from the innovative spirit of this food ecosystem.
Patrick Tassignon, Senior Innovation Director Ambient Seafood at Thai Union, said: "We selected Wageningen because its research institutes for life sciences, food and health harbor immense knowledge and expertise. These are important elements for Thai Union&rsquo;s innovation strategy, along with potential R&amp;D partners that are present here." Finding a suitable location presented its challenges, Tassignon said: "Oost NL assisted us in location search and advice, organizing fact-finding sessions for various stakeholders within our Group and introducing us to relevant companies. Our proximity to world-class research here in Wageningen also helped us to attract the right talents for our Innovation Hub."
<h2>Addition to ecosystem</h2>
During the festive opening ceremony, Wageningen University &amp; Research welcomed Thai Union to the Wageningen Campus community through the lectures of two professors and the director of Value Creation. "Collaborative projects with students and researchers have already been initiated", says Anne Mensink, Manager Wageningen Campus &amp; Shared Facilities. "In addition, we look forward to Thai Union&rsquo;s participation in the shared research facilities here on campus."
